White Nights:
Prizm story: Unforgettable:
The second one? Laughable. The first one? Not so bad. I may end up pass the 20k mark but not by much.
PS: I saw Iron Man today con mi familia. Wonderful, wonderful movie. Highly recommned it. Highly. Kay, Zoe's zonkin' early, head's killin' me. Must've been all that outside air and people...ew. ;)
Later gators, come morning, we'll play.

I hosted the Torquere LJ today, then went to a concert. And then, to top it all off, we went out to a bar and drank absinthe and listened to a really shitty band. But now I'm home again, and it's time to report my progress.
Lots of projects/writing to report on, today. I wrote to prompts over on the Torquere LJ, so there's all of that, on top of the other writing I did. So.
"Jumping the Shark" (in the "Ghost Notes" universe) - 103 words
"Travesty" (in the "Out of Uniform" universe) - 212 words
"Embarrassing Moments" (in the "Angels Come to Visit" universe) - 210 words
"Naming Day" (in the "Angels Come to Visit" universe) - 546 words
"Snake Charmer" (sequel to "Birds of a Feather") - 353 words
"The Distance to Here" (with Anah Crow) - 2,384 words
Total Words for 5/17/08 - 3,808
May Words: 34,362
2008 Words: 139,817

The setting in question is a Steampunk world based roughly on 1890s Europe and America, the heroes come from the Britain equivalent, but they are familiar with American laws. I am assuming that they won't see anything wrong with risks and behaviours we would consider outrageous, but even they would draw the line somewhere.
My questions are as follows:
When did the first reckless endangerment laws come about?
In what way, if any, did they differ from modern reckless endangerment laws?
Are there any other laws that could be used against someone who has placed another human being in very grave danger?
I have tried googling it but I couldn't find anything useful that way.
EDIT: Removed the example since it only confused the issue.

Yesterday I listed out all our WIP's for RD and then listed the ones we definitely wouldn't pursue.
Then I go to write today and turn out 1000 words on a story in the "not being written" category. Um. Oops?
It's okay if that ends up being the next story, I just would like to stay on one thing long enough to finish. :)
I read a genderbendery story that had so much wtf going on in it that the gender bending was the more normal part about it. I think there was incest too. (The fact that I say I "think" there was incest should indicate the amount of wtf I mean.) I kind of liked it.
And I read Jet Myckle's Heaven, which was pretty awesome! I hadn't read it sooner because I worry about heartbreaking monogamy issues when musicians/celebrities are involved in stories, but it wasn't like that at all. It was very pretty. And also, sexy.

I'm trying to write about a cage fighter, but he's not a professional by any means, and wiki only seems to have information on the Ultimate Fighting Championship. This guy is trying to stay under the radar, so he won't be doing anything very highly regulated. I'm wondering- what are the basic rules? What kind of money can he expect?
Thanks!
I've googled "Cage fighting" and "Bare knuckle boxing", and wiki'd the same.

i recently bought a couple of jock straps to pack with and i found that i like packing this way better than any other way i've tried so far. however, im not entirely happy with the particular jocks that i've gotten. i modified them with a little pocket to keep the packer off my skin because i hate how it gets all sticky and sweaty. my biggest problem though is that the ones i have seem to be more for show than everyday wear - theyre not machine washable! drives me nuts.
i would love to hear from guys about what brand/style of jock strap you use to pack with, especially if it fits what i want. even if it doesnt, i'd still love to know what brand you use.
my ideal jock:
1. MUST be machine washable
2. has a waistband no thicker that 2"
3. has a way to keep the packer away from my skin (such as a pouch designed for a cup)
i can live without #3, as i can modify that myself. but i'd prefer if it had that already.

There's only one word I really need to say for this book: James Buchanan.
*starts walking away, glances over shoulder*
What? You're still here? I wasn't kidding. If you haven't hit a Buchanan book yet, God forgive you, the man's a god. Though short (terribly short, I cried a bit at the length) it's just as raw and powerful as any of his stories. My brain's still a little mushed from re-reading it but I will totally heap on the praise for it as he manages to stuff an entire novel into...oh about 36 pages.
So you've got your two hottie guys with a past, smokin' sex appeal and did I mention the absolutely excellent portrayal of Los Angeles?
He did his research, fer sure and the result is the gritty masterpiece that is True Hollywood. Go James :)
