There isn't much he wouldn't do for Will -- but he doesn't know how much longer they can stay teamed feeling the way he does. Ever have one of those DOH! moments when you've bought books, put off reading, got distracted, then read something else from the same author and realized "Holy shit! I've been missing this??" Well, I had one of those moments.
See, I've got several of Josh Lanyon's books, but due to work, I don't have a lot of time to read for pleasure, and when I do, it's usually something short. Well, after seeing
So...read this book!!!

Cassidy Ryan amazes me at how she can fit an entire, fully-developed story into such a short length. Aside from Sleeping with the Past, this is definitely one of my faves from her. :D

Jason Scott is at the top of the bull riding game, on his way to a winning season. Along with his traveling partner, Andy Baxter, he's riding hard on the circuit, working around the country with all of the other bull riders and bull fighters, living the good life. The only thing he wishes he had is Bax, but he's afraid to take the step that would make them more than friends, worried that it will ruin everything.
When a terrible accident leaves Jason unable to see, his whole life goes south. Jason decides to chuck it all, determined to go home and hide at his momma's ranch. Bax has other ideas. He wants to make sure his best friend doesn't give up, and he hatches a plan that stuns Jason and makes their friends and family think he's crazy.
With the help of the other bull riders and a very persistent bull fighter named Coke, Bax convinces Jason to give life one more try. With Jason cautiously learning to hope, and his relationship with Bax going to the next level, life gets pretty complicated. Everyone gets in on the project, from Jason's strong-willed mother to an entire ranch full of children, all of them working to help Jason do what he loves.
Will Bax be able to convince Jason that he can still ride, even if he's blind to everything the world has to offer?Get your copy here!

Now, I love Sonny and MJ and Galen and Shane. But I do believe, when it comes to BA Tortuga characters, Bax and Jason just topped the list.
I can't begin to say how much I loved this book. Hell, I stayed up til nearly 12:30 am reading, then finished the last 49 pages this morning. One of the biggest pluses, for me? God, where do I start? Plot? Best friends? Hot sex but not too much of it? Angst? Humor? This book has it all!
If you love cowboys (especially bullriders), read this book! I'm seriously contemplating ordering the print right now.
Zoe Nichols' "Asher and the Elevator Romp" is light and fun and sexy as hell. See, some of my exes have been (and still are) crossdressers, and this story brought back some awesome memories. :D
Cassidy Ryan's "Best of Enemies" is wicked! Who doesn't love a sorcerer and vamp fighting for dominance???

Raised in a motorcycle gang, John Arrowsmith has a bad case of wanderlust. He's not sure what drives him, but he knows he has to go, and he has the perfect machine to ride on; the big custom bike he calls Harley. When he and Harley get run off the road and wake up someplace completely unfamiliar, Arrowsmith knows something has gone pretty darned wrong.
With a cast of characters that include thieves, Moonhounds, and ogres, John has to find his way through this new world, trying to understand why he's been transported there, and why he's falling for a guy named Infamous. What Arrowsmith finds out surprises him, and might just kill him. Can he survive to find his way home?Find out here!

Elves, wolves, and...bikers??
Welcome to the weird world of Alyx Shaw. *grins* I've been a fan of Alyx's for a few years now--having read nearly every piece of fanfic she's written. (God, I miss Rabbit...) Anyway! I digress...
This book reads like a classic fairy tale-turned fantasy novel. Just as I got lost in Tolkien's words throughout the years, I found myself lost in Alyx's. This is a classic, folks. If you like fantasy, you must read this one. Yeah, there's sex, but it's not graphic--and that FITS the story to a T. And I really gotta point out some favorite passages (with Alyx's permission, of course). Both passages involve a particular character: Misty. Both times, I was laughing so hard, I was in tears...
***
Misty charged into the kitchen like a warhorse, dropping Infamous' pack to the floor and hanging his cloak up on a peg near the door. "I'm hungry!" he yelled at no one in particular, and began digging through the cupboards for something to eat. Wess strolled in after him, quietly closing the door and bolting it. Misty found a honey muffin and, by some great force of will, managed to stick the entire thing into his mouth. As he sat down at the table, attempting to chew it, Monshikka chose that moment to reappear.
"Misty!" he roared.
"Leave him alone," said the Moonhound. "If he speaks with that in his mouth we'll all wear it."
"I'm waiting for him to sneeze, personally," said Infamous.
***
"Look," Misty said as he filled another cup for Arrowsmith. "We don't really care where you are from. Accept us for what we are, and we will do the same for you. Of course, our ways are a little more complex than that, but that is the only rule you have to worry about for now. Pick up your...lute," Misty waved a hand at the guitar, "and we will play and sing."
Arrowsmith stared at the wall for a moment longer, then turned to look at Infamous and Misty. They blinked at him cutely, innocently, like a couple of demonic Care Bears. He nodded, still a little shaken. "All right," he said softly.

Now, given THOSE possibilities, how can you pass this one up???

George is an Anglican priest who loves music and the church. His life is very fulfilling; now if only he could find someone to share it with. However, options are limited for a gay priest, as he can't exactly go trolling through the clubs.

I'm not sure I have the words to adequately describe this book. I love stories that combine religion with sex--sacred sexuality, if you will. When I opened this book, that was my hope--to find one of those stories within the pages. I was NOT disappointed.
Riley's prose is almost as lyrical as the music George loves so much, the music that draws Dominick so strongly. The sex is intense and hot, the abuse of Dominick at his Master's hands heartwrenching.
I read this book in one sitting, unable to stop. If you like vampires (especially with priests), then you will LOVE this book.

Nick O'Malley is an agent for the Nevada Gaming Commission. He's also a Goth with a hearse he's restoring, and an ex lover he's only just getting over. Brandon Carr is a cop with the Riverside PD. Lucky for him, he's in Vice where his tattoos and biker boy looks serve him well.
The two meet at a Goth convention in San Diego and the sparks fly immediately. So much so that a weekend fling turns into more and Brandon spends his four day weekend visiting Nick.
Things aren't all sparks and roses though: the two do live a nine hour drive apart, and Brandon's not out. Add to that a murder right in front of them, a company trying to cheat the system and the Mexican Mafia, and Brandon and Nick's relationship will need to overcome a whole slew of obstacles in order to work.
Despite everything, can Brandon and Nick make a go of it? Taken a chance on these two and find out.
***I had the pleasure of beta-reading this book (and its sequel!), so take it from me: Nicky and Brandon are HOT!
I love Buchanan's gritty style, and this book is gritty with a capital G, folks. Tons of action--in and out of the bed (or the hearse, or the hotel room, or...) And dear God, those rope bondage scenes? Oh, fuck yes!
If you love cops, you have GOT to read this book!

I admit: I've only read one story in this book. And just for that story, I'd kill to have this in print.
Giselle Ellis' "Take My Picture".
It's not often a story moves me to the point of tears. This one did.
Aaron, needing money, goes to apply for what turns out to be an assistant position to a very temperamental photographer, Jake. Over the course of five years, they fall into a comfortable routine--knowing each other the way no one else knows them. It's crystal clear what's going on--to everyone BUT them. It takes Alyson (their friend and Jake's former assistant), Aaron's new boyfriend, and a gallery showing to finally get it through their stubborn skulls that they're meant for each other.
If you like friends-becoming-lovers stories, then you absolutely MUST read "Take My Picture" in this antho. Yes, I'm gonna read the others, but the bar has been set incredibly, probably impossibly high by this single story.
Hey, it moved me to tears, folks. Read it.

Nathaniel is a cop, assigned to protect professor and well-known writer Asher Munro. Asher has been receiving threats, and as the situation gets worse and worse, Nathaniel and Asher have to spend a lot of time together, for Asher's protection.
Their attraction goes far beyond what a policeman should feel for someone under his care, so Nathaniel denies what he feels, even when Asher confronts him with his own needs. Someone wants Asher dead, though, and Nathaniel wants the man very much alive. Can they keep Asher safe and deal with what they feel for each other?

Y'all know how much I NEED and love my caffeine--especially in the mornings. Yes? Good. Take this into account then.I bought this book a little after 8am. It's now 10:30. I just finished it. We're talking NONSTOP, folks. I haven't even had caffeine yet! I couldn't stop reading long enough to get a Mountain Dew.
Quite frankly, this is one of the best novels I've read in a long time. Not ONCE did I have the slightest idea who might be behind the threats on Asher, and dear God, Cass about killed me with the tension between Asher and Nathaniel. *twitches* But the pay-off? Oh, God... Just read it. Buy it. Read it. Buy a copy for a friend. But READ IT! And damn it, I'll be pissed if it doesn't go into print.

Blurb from publisher:
When Sam Raintree goes to work for Bay City Paranormal Investigations, he expects his quiet life to change—he doesn’t expect to put his life and sanity on the line, or to fall for a man he can never have.
Book One in the Bay City Paranormal Investigation series.
Sam Raintree has never been normal. All his life, he’s experienced things he can’t explain. Things that have colored his view of the world and of himself. So taking a job as a paranormal investigator seems like a perfect fit. His new co-workers, he figures, don’t have to know he’s gay.
When Sam arrives at Oleander House, the site of his first assignment with Bay City Paranormal Investigations, nothing is what he expected. The repetitive yet exciting work, the unusual and violent history of the house, the intensely erotic and terrifying dreams which plague his sleep. But the most unexpected thing is Dr. Bo Broussard, the group’s leader.
From the moment they meet, Sam is strongly attracted to his intelligent, alluring boss. It doesn’t take Sam long to figure out that although Bo has led a heterosexual life, he is very much in the closet, and wants Sam as badly as Sam wants him.
As the investigation of Oleander House progresses and paranormal events in the house escalate, Sam and Bo circle warily around their mutual attraction, until a single night of bloodshed and revelation changes their lives forever.
***I've always loved Ally Blue's work. Not too much sex, good plots, and hot men. What more could one ask for?
Oleander House is the first in the Bay City Paranormal Investigation series. To date, there are three books. (I bought prints of Oleander House and What Hides Inside. I'm waiting on Twilight to go to print.)
Oleander House is a ghost lover's dream come true. Lots of creepiness, mixed with the perfect amount of tension--sexual and otherwise. The last third of the book I nearly read in one sitting. Had hell trying to pull myself away to tend to other things.
Sam and Bo are perfectly matched--Sam knowing who he is, Bo trying to fight himself. The conflict (and need) between them is palpable. If you've never read anything by Ally Blue, I highly suggest this to start. Be forewarned, however: you'll become addicted. You can find all of Ally's Samhain titles here.
No doubt most of you have read this, but for those who haven't...
The Persian Boy is a novel set during the last years of Alexander the Great's life, told through the eyes (1st POV) of Bagoas, his gelded Persian lover. While some would say this novel is about Alexander, I say (at least for me) that it's more about Bagoas--his life, the hell he went through--from childhood to adulthood, and the admiration and love he held for Alexander.
There were parts that were rough to read (namely Bagoas' gelding, which isn't extremely detailed, but you certainly can picture it and feel his terror), but they all worked to deepen the story. I was sucked in from the first sentence and oftentimes had to force myself to close the book to tend to other things, or chant "just one more page, just one more page"...
I love Renault's style. I can say that now, having read one of her books. (The Charioteer is next on the list.) She evokes countless emotions without bogging the prose down. Her ability to combine historical fact with brilliant imagery blows me away. There are no info dumps, and throughout the story, I felt as if I was right there--not listening to Bagoas describe his life, but as if I was living it right along with him. That's how engrossing this novel is.
If you ever want something to escape into, this is it.

Angel Malak knows he owes demon Cael a debt of gratitude for saving his life at least a millennium ago. He's starting to crack under the pressure of Cael's flirting, which is good, because Cael's deadline to stay out of Hell is coming up fast. Still, Malak's not sure he wants to share his soul by sleeping with the most beautiful demon he knows...
When Cael's old boss shows up to remind him just what's waiting for him back in Hell, Asmodai gloats a little too much, and tells Cael the end of days might be coming up earlier than planned. Can Cael and Malak find a way to keep Cael on earth and stop the impending apocalypse?

Everyone knows how much I love angels and demons. So when this book came out, it jumped to the top of my to-read list.

WOW.
This might be a short story, but it's one of the best Single Shots Torquere has ever put out, in my opinion. I am amazed--utterly amazed--at how much story Cassidy Ryan managed to fit into 40 pages. The sex had PURPOSE; it wasn't just there for the hell of it. The emotion was palpable and intense. And I swear--Bo (Cal's dog) reminds me enough of my beloved Dalmatian I had for years. :) Get this short story, folks. You won't regret it.

Ian McAllistor has always thought of himself as an Alpha werewolf. Born last in a pack of dominant females, he always felt as if he had something to prove. A chance encounter with a very special couple opened his eyes to his own submissive nature. As his desire for supplication grew, Ian needed a lover of his own, someone he could submit to.
When he first laid eyes on Khalid Diya al Din, Ian knew that the golem was just the one to bring him to his knees. One of the ancient races, Khalid had nearly everything necessary to make Ian tame: smoldering eyes, massive chest and four arms!
Yet just when Ian thought that things couldn’t get any better, his mother and sisters appear. They don’t like the idea of Ian being submissive, especially not when a power-hungry Alpha wants the McAllistor sisters for his own and is more than they can handle. They need a male Alpha. They need their brother.
Left with little choice, Ian has to make peace with his past, accept his present and learn that sometimes submission is the heart of strength.
